Never alone......

this is the first sunday of advent '12
and today I was lucky
there was time for a late breakfast together having
some saffron bread with the second cup of coffee
and there was time together to fix some of the heavy arrangements
that come with the traditions of welcoming December here in Sweden.
But as very often in a big family working in the air industry,
check-in and take-off were calling upon my husband
and he picked up his bags and left for the airport.
Still I'm never alone as long as we have Kletus, the most charming company
who loves to do things with all of us in the family.
I had to be fast taking his picture this morning,
he's eagerly waiting for me to start on the Christmas ornaments.

This year I had tiny silver ones for the little tree on the new
sun porch that will also be the first year with this arrangement.
We'll be back once we're done having silver threads put on for
hanging the decor to the little tree.
This Christmas it looks like we're all going to be together,
family members are joining in, some not traveling, some off duty
and some coming home from around the world.

Twilight zone...

The fading daylight is fascinating in many ways and according to my camera
the house shade of the lime wash paint today looked something of a newborn pig,
instead of the faded white/pinky color I worked so hard on when preparing it
and normally does. The air is pretty humid this time of the year and
while lime wash breathes the natural pigment changes slightly all the time.
Just a reflection as I decided to take som pictures late afternoon
and yes we have turned the clocks back for wintertime!
Today at 2pm we began bringing in the bumper harvest of our
winter apples. We are glad the tree survived last year's construction
chaos as we extended the kitchen with the bay window.
Seriously I don't know what to do with all the fruit,
so there will be plenty for all the birds that stay the winter.
They just have to watch out for the the little hunter,
who sits put inside by the bay window in order
to make his moves out the cat-flap.

Sunny side up

at breakfast this September morning
De allra sista plantorna har lyfts in. Detta är den första hösten
med köksverandan inglasad och helt färdig. Till och med
kökssoffan har fått flytta hit, då så mycket tid tillbringas här.
This morning was really chilly outdoors, this is the first fall with the sunporch all set
and it's a big hit. With the sun it's even warmer than outdoors......
I had my first cup of coffee on the porch this morning,
when deciding to finally close up my garden for this year and move some plants indoors.
The kitchen sofa has now it's place on the sunny porch

Before...two years ago without the panes!

❤

Autumn is here and this also means time's up for painting outdoors with linseed oil paint.
The temperature is not warm enough and it's getting pretty humid in the air.
We are really pleased for closing this job in time, although with some extra help.
All those panes almost drove us insane......a set of 6 antique windows and
a pair of doors that needed to be restored now close the kitchen porch
...and to mention the serious amount of the linseed oil putty.

This project took almost 2 years to accomplish, from the very beginning
finding the old veranda amongst a lot of recuperated building material
'til the very last stroke with paint. What happened in between is a long story!

The lemon tree is doing great by this kitchen entrance

A Bouquet of Easter

living some intense days with bright colors
is fine for the Easter holiday.....then I will be done for this year (again)
So today I enjoy having my egg served
in this antique cup from Rörstrand
and hoping for some warm weather to occur.
It's time to bring them paint brushes outdoors
to finish up the newly built sun porch.

Today at 10:00 am, the second of Advent.

Building a nest

takes time........trust me!
It's also a lot of fun.....
and educational
spending time at cabinet-maker's workshop.
A more than a 100 years old set of a glass-enclosed veranda
is being restored to fit into the kitchen porch.
Folding doors that easily open up on sunny days...
and one can slip outside to the joining porch.
This is the new fasad.....
and
this is what it looked like a month ago!

This isn't over yet......trust me!
I'm working on it......  ☕  Ia
