Vintage travel in style....

is said to be the next trend theme at this fall's  Formex  Trade Fair for Nordic Design 2009.

Elegance and travelling in style is back in fashion.......
Now this old globetrotter never thought she would feel the urge to travel again so strongly.
I figured I was done packing, done worrying about my luggage in the different compartment stores.

Being a keen architectual fanatic, I started thinking of Le Train Bleu at Gare de Lyon in Paris.
The restaurant is named after the famous set of trains, once operating in France on the route Calais, picking up British passengers arriving by ferry over the English channel, to the French Riviera. There were 13 stops on the way and two of them included Paris major stations.

This is what I would call starting a journey in elegance and style, original  vintage interior design from 1905 at it's best. White linen napkins....being attended at by the table....getting in the mood. Keeping an eye on the clock for the time of departure. My luggage would already be checked in, all I had to do would be to grab my purse and my scarf and hop aboard...The passengers were exclusively offered first class compartments on the train and the sleeping cars were painted blue with a gold trim. At 1938 this private railroad company was nationalized by the French government and included in the SNCF as an ordinary night express train.
There is still the Orient Express, if anyone would like to try this very last trend of travelling - I wonder what they mean!!!

I'm hoping for some great inspiration when visiting the expo in three weeks, being a vintage girl after all...

Cara Ingela,

Why hesitate? Pack your bags! Hop in! Go where you please! You will never regret... Stylish, classy, che lusso! The Train Bleu or Orient Express would really match your luggage! Enjoy your trip!
A proposito, what a difference from Ryan Air. Bacione, Ingrid
